Swimming the Farallons
This June I will be swimming from the Farallon Islands to Aquatic Park in San Francisco, a distance of 30+ miles. A feat that has never been accomplished by a female.

Time to get to work

I took a little time off swimming last month. October 1st is my go date to get back to work. I have reorganized my training schedule and set my goals for the remainder of 2009 and all of 2010. I still need to put some pieces into place but I am thinking “California Triple Crown”.  Please realize that I am just making this up as I go. More to come…

In the meantime I was shocked to see my name on the list of open water swims of 2009 for my Tahoe Crossing. Crazy! I look at the list and I see the who’s who of open water swimming on it, then I scrolled down and holy moly my name was on it.  Check it out…

Open Water Swims of 2009

  • Karen,

congrats again on an awesome feat. I have thought about swimming Lake Tahoe for years, but have been so involved with Triathlons that pure swimming was not at the forefront of my thoughts.
Now that I have completed my 50 races in 50 weeks in my 50th year, I am contemplating my next goal.
I read in swimmer magazine about the triple crown and have always wanted to try and tackle the English Channel (EC), but I think I need to start smaller and have a 3 – 4 year plan for EC. This year I want to do the Trans-Tahoe solo and the Maui Channel swim solo.
I am thinking that in 2012 if the next 2 years go as I hope, I might want to try the quaduple crown – Tahoe, Catalina, Manhatten and “the Channel”.
Maybe we should talk about something like this and maybe come up with a joint plan, “if you are interested?”

    would love to talk.
